IWATA, March 3, 2015 -Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo:7272) announced today that the two Hamamatsu bases of the IM Business Unit will be aggregated and will relocate to Toyooka-cho, Kita-ku, Hamamatsu, in order to expand its business scale. The IM Business Unit undertakes development, manufacture, and sales of surface mounters, industrial robots, and electric wheelchairs.

Currently, the IM Business Unit manufactures surface mounters at its Hamamatsu IM base in Soude-cho, Naka-ku, Hamamatsu, as well as at its other base in Shinmiyakoda, Kita-ku, Hamamatsu.

The IM Business Unit has been considering the expansion of its production space in order to target future business expansion, however, the area surrounding its Soude-cho base is a residential area, making expansion difficult. Therefore, the plan was drawn up to aggregate the two bases and relocate to Kita-ku. Land was acquired in July of last year, and approval gained from the Hamamatsu City Development Committee in December of last year. Recently, the Company has received clearance for conversion of agricultural land and development of the land it has acquired.

The construction of the new Hamamatsu IM Base will commence in April this year. On a site area of approximately 60,000m2, the steel-framed four-story (three story with mezzanine) factory and office facility will have a total floor area of 53,700m2, and is scheduled to begin operation from January 2017.
