Policyholders can file claims by calling the 24-hour hotlines 080 555 555 or 080 2864, or online at www.triglav.si

Ljubljana, 22 October 2014 - Zavarovalnica Triglav cannot yet determine the actual amount and extent of damage affecting many parts of Slovenia due to heavy rainfall and floods. Detailed damage estimates will be known over the coming days when the situation will have calmed down. Zavarovalnica Triglav has already sent teams of loss adjusters to the flooded areas in Slovenia, whereby the Company advised its policyholders not to rush with filing their claim reports. Claims can be filed by calling the 24-hour toll free hotlines 080 555 555 or 080 2864. Due to the emergency situation in the flooded area of Ljubljana, the Vič branch is closed.

Slovenia's largest insurance company advises all policyholders to follow these five steps if they encounter damage due to a natural disaster:

  • Above all, protect human life.

  • Prevent further damage.

  • If possible, take several pictures of the damage incurred.

  • Check your insurance coverage on the relevant insurance policies and file a claim.

  • If conditions are safe, begin with repairs, while ensuring that evidence of the damage incurred is kept intact until the arrival of a loss adjustment officer.

How to file a claim For assistance in reporting claims, those who have suffered losses can contact their insurance agent, the nearest branch or broker, or the nearest Triglav regional unit. Policyholders may file claims by calling the 24-hour toll-free hotlines 080 555 555 or 080 2864 or online at www.triglav.si. For assistance and clarification in the instance of a loss event and to help file a claim for vehicles, a mobile loss adjustment application is available, which can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. When filing claims, policyholders should give a detailed list of damaged objects, take several pictures of the damage incurred as well as give their telephone number, e-mail address and the bank account number to which they want their insurance indemnity credited.

Take extra care when handling flooded vehicles or electronic devices A special warning has been issued for the owners of flooded motor vehicles. Zavarovalnica Triglav would like to stress that in these cases the engine of a flooded motor vehicle should not be started. The same applies to all electronic devices. Repairs on a motor vehicle should begin after filing a claim in line with the instructions given to policyholders by a loss adjuster, while repairs on an electronic device should start in accordance with the instructions provided by an authorised service.

Claims payable within a few days after damage assessment Zavarovalnica Triglav is aware that mass loss events like this call for a fast and efficient service. Therefore, the Company provides professional and quick claim processing and effects payments for minor losses in a couple of days after the damage has been assessed, if the client agrees with the damage estimate. In the event of major damage, the method of repair is agreed with policyholders at the time of damage assessment and an advance payment is offered. In the event of damage to vehicles, the method of damage repair is agreed on with policyholders during the damage assessment. Due to the emergency situation in the flooded area of Ljubljana, the Vič branch is closed until further notice.
