Zavarovalnica Triglav supports prevention projects nationwide through its traditional New Year 'For a Better Tomorrow' campaign. It devotes particular attention to road safety and to children, who are the most vulnerable road users. As part of this year's campaign, the insurer's regional office in Trbovlje therefore decided to support the construction of a pavement close to the brickworks and Tončka Čeč primary school. It will also help the Municipality of Trbovlje to purchase a defibrillator, which will be installed outside the workers' hostel in Trbovlje town centre.

The narrow and dangerous street directly by the brickworks is a school route for many children. The Municipality of Trbovlje therefore decided to increase the safety of its youngest road users with a new pavement. 'The narrow access route to Tončka Čeč primary school is a danger chiefly to pedestrians - in this case, children going to and from school. We are keen to increase safety and make children more visible on the roads, and are doing so with additional signalling measures. We are delighted that Zavarovalnica Triglav have acknowledged our concerns and our initiative by deciding to support our project and providing a portion of funds towards the laying-out of new road markings,' said Jasna Gabrič, Trbovlje's mayor, at the symbolic handover of the funds.

Speed display signs also warn drivers of excessive speeds

A speed display sign was also installed at the brickworks at the beginning of the school year. The initiative to bring speeds down in this part of Trbovlje is supported by Zavarovalnica Triglav, which has redirected a portion of funds for the fourth year running to support a range of prevention projects. 'In the autumn, we partnered with the Municipality of Trbovlje to realise our aim of calming traffic at a critical road section in the Zasavje region and improving the safety of all road users, particularly the most vulnerable, children, by installing speed displays. The new pavement will help us to achieve this goal even more quickly,' said Mojca Brečko, director of the Trbovlje Regional Office of Zavarovalnica Triglav, which will this year also help the municipality to purchase a defibrillator, which will be installed outside the workers' hostel in the very centre of Trbovlje.

Fourth year of the 'For a Better Tomorrow' campaign

The 'For A Better Tomorrow' New Year prevention campaign is already in its fourth year. Over the last three years, Triglav's campaign has supported more than 70 prevention projects throughout the country, with a further 20 or so receiving support this year. In recent years, the company have helped numerous firefighting associations around Slovenia, co-financed the purchase of defibrillators and various other complex medical devices, and supported a large number of other projects in the fields of healthcare, civil protection, child development and safety, flood protection and road safety.

As part of last year's New Year prevention campaign, the Trbovlje Regional Office provided funds to the Municipality of Hrastnik to purchase a defibrillator, which was then installed in the local community of Marno.
