JAKARTA - Nov. 22, 2016 - Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in providing solutions and services that give enterprises real-time visibility into their operations, today announces that SaveMax has adopted its 2D Point of Sale (POS) imagers in the retailer's 60,000-square-foot store located in Cibubur. The 2D imagers enable the cashiers to scan even the most challenging 1D or 2D barcodes at any angle, expediting the checkout process and delivering an enhanced customer experience.

Indonesia's retail industry is expanding by leaps and bounds, and is currently ranked as the 12 most retail-friendly economy amongst 30 emerging markets. The fast-growing population, emerging middle-class consumers, increasing employment rate, and urbanization are key drivers propelling the country's retail industry. The advancement and adoption of new technologies, such as connected devices, advanced Point-of-Sale (PoS) systems, mobile payment, etc., are also fueling the industry's growth.
KEY FACTS

  • Zebra's DS7708 and DS4308 scanners both deliver easy-to-deploy, high performance two-dimensional (2D) scanning. The improved latest generation of 2D imagers are to read barcodes omni-directionally, increasing productivity by a significant margin.
  • With Zebra's 123Scan scanner configuration and management tool, SaveMax can now configure and deploy the DS7708 within minutes, making it extremely scalable for big retail stores, while at the same time reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). 123Scan also offers the ability to generate a 2D command code on a mobile phone and the POS imagers can be configured by simply scanning the code. The command code can also be sent via text message to remote locations - saving on service calls.
  • SaveMax is the first retailer in Indonesia to deploy the DS4308 handheld scanner. The DS4308 can scan scratched, smudged, poorly printed, or damaged barcodes in milliseconds resulting in an improved user experience, higher productivity and greater throughput with reduced wait times.
  • Both the DS4308 and DS7708 support scanning virtual 1D and 2D barcodes from mobile phone displays, thus future-proofing SaveMax's POS investment.
