While Turkey has been a very cold ally of Israel over the last few years, natural gas may be changing that.

Israel's offshore Tamar and Leviathan gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea are a highly valuable asset in meeting Europe's rising gas and energy need.

Europe's energy dependence to Russia has been known as the top discussed energy issue over the years. This problem needs to be solved, or an alternative gas pipeline route found, because Europe doesn't want to rely on Russian Gas anymore.

Considering the tension in the Middle East and Turkey's geopolitical position, transmission of the Leviathan gas through Turkey seems to be the best route.
