IBC 2017 Highlights: Localization, innovation and honours in Amsterdam

Now the dust has settled, we've had a chance to reflect on Amsterdam's IBC 2017 takeover. The six-day media and technology powerhouse held a record-breaking 57,699 visitors and over 1,700 exhibitors. In a heaving Hall 5, Team ZOO were on hand with live demos of our cloud-powered services in action.

With a steady stream of visitors, two new industry innovations on show and another award for ZOOdubs in the cabinet, there's been plenty to keep us busy. Here are the highlights for ZOO at IBC 2017.

IABM Design & Innovation Awards

ZOOdubs was our prized star of IBC 2017. The industry's first cloud-based dubbing platform for TV and movie content picked up a much-sought-after IABM Design & Innovation Award for Post Production.

The judging panel of 40 independent industry professionals summarized:

'This is not just an app but an entire service. An elegant use of the cloud that leverages all its advantages of speed, flexibility and scalability to transform the process. A real innovation of how dubbing will work in the future.'

We're delighted that ZOOdubs is gaining industry recognition. It's the second time this year that the platform has gained an award, following our Best of Show Award at NAB 2017 in Las Vegas, and it's already making a difference to the way dubbing is managed for TV and movie content owners.

Spreading the word

We welcomed several industry experts and reporters looking for insights into our next steps. Team ZOO were invited to speak about a number of our favorite topics on everything from the challenges facing the localization supply chain to how our use of the cloud is changing the game.

Whether it's the ZOO philosophy - the power of awesomeness - or our drive to innovate for our customers, we have a growing a reputation for doing things differently.

Fantastic feedback

During the five days, we were kept busy demoing all our cloud-based services to a stream of friends and associates from the TV and movie world.

In particular, there was a real buzz around our newly launched services in dubbing powered by ZOOdubs and scripting powered by ZOOscripts.

From ZOOdubs workflow visibility and access to voice artists to ZOOscripts real-time updates and flexibility, it was satisfying to see how well our innovations were received.

Gordon Doran, President at ZOO Digital, explained:

'IBC enabled us to show how our cloud-based approach is making a difference where it matters most for content owners.

Growing our affiliate network

Before the show, we put a call out to potential affiliates looking to join our trusted network - and it was great to see the response. Syed, Marilyn, Tony and Mazin talked with localization experts from around the world, interested in partnering with ZOO.

We're always looking for more tech-savvy businesses to work alongside us and IBC's tech-mania was a great place to meet up. (Safe to say, we have a few announcements around the corner, so watch this space.)
