Zoomlion is the Only Construction Machinery Enterprise on the BCG Global Challengers List

On September 11, American consulting giant Boston Consulting Group announced its list of 100 "Global Challengers" for 2014. Twenty-nine Chinese companies made the list, including Alibaba Group, Aviation Industry Corporation of China and China Communications Construction Company Limited. Thanks to its solid business strength, excellent overseas performance and broad development prospects, Zoomlion, ranked 28th, was the only construction machinery company to make the list.
Zoomlion has already established sales and service platforms in nearly 80 countries covering five continents, including the global key markets of India, Australia, Algeria, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belarus, South Korea, Brazil, Libya and Egypt.
Boston Consulting Group is a global management consulting firm and the world's leading business strategy consultancy. This is the sixth BCG Global Challengers list, which is always made up of rapidly globalizing companies from emerging markets. This year's eligibility criteria included having operations in a rapidly developing economy, annual revenue of at least US$ 1 billion and overseas revenue that accounts for more than 10% of total income or exceeds US$ 500 million. Companies must also be genuinely eager to develop into global enterprises.
According to the report, Global Challengers had an average annual growth rate of 18% between 2000 and 2013. This year's list includes 13 new challengers, four of which are Chinese, namelyTencent, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, Fuyao Group and China Shenhua Energy Company Limited.
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. specializes in the development, manufacturing and marketing of industrial construction equipment. Net sales break down by family of products and services as follows:
- construction equipment (94.2%): concrete machines, cranes truck, crawler trucks, tower cranes, road machinery and road maintenance machinery (motor graders, road rollers, coating cold milling), rotary drills, earth moving equipment (crawler loaders, bulldozers and excavators), materials handling machines, etc.;
- agricultural machinery (4.1%): harvesters, tillers, cultivators, tractors, drying machines, etc.;
- financial services (1.7%).
China accounts for 94.1% of net sales.
