Carol Bartz
Director/Board Member at AGILE GROWTH CORP.
Profile
The informatics world has evolved thanks also to Carol Bartz’s involvement. For 20 years, this woman provides her talent and her strategy to many companies of Silicon Valley. In 2009, when everyone thought that she was near to retirement, she became CEO of Yahoo.
Graduated in computer science from University of Wisconsin, she moved towards innovative business. After a short period in 3M, she joined Cisco System, NetApp, Intel Corporation and Sun Microsystems, where she was Vice-President.
In 1992, she was recruited by Autodesk, publisher of PC software. With her experience and her skills, the company became leader in informatics assistance. Under her leadership, research is encouraged and Autodesk has developed innovative products, especially it became a beacon for architecture firms.
In 2006, she left Autodesk’s direction, even if she remained as Executive President of the board. Her mission is largely reached, for $300 million of revenue in 1992 Autodesk has increased to $1.5 billion in 2005.
On 13th January of 2009, she was named as CEO of Yahoo. She replaced the co-founder Jerry Young, sacked by shareholders after his refuse of Microsoft’s bid. Her mission is titanic: reduce the gap with Google on on-line advertisement, set up a partnership with Microsoft, avoiding to be eaten by this, and restructure the branch of research and development.
On 7th September 2011, Carol Bartz is removed from her position, and Scott Thomson has been appointed as new CEO.
