His last name is printed on each sheet of cigarette paper OCB. Dating back over a century, the brand OCB also means “Odet-Cascadec-Bolloré”. According to the family legend, René Bolloré was the first to rent the mill of Cascadec powered by the river Isole and another one. It was in 1822, and the aim was to produce writing paper and cigarette paper.
Over a century later, Vincent Bolloré was born in Paris suburbs and began his career at the famous bank Rothschild. His attachment to his Breton roots and his family is present in the organization of the group: the capital of his holding company, Groupe Bolloré, is 65 % owned by Financière de l’Odet. The group holds different subsidiaries as Financière du Loch, Financière de Sainte-Marine, Financière Perguet, Guénolé Company. His old friend Antoine Bernheim, who chairs the Italian insurer Generali calls this system “the system of Breton pulleys”. In fact, this system allows to control many companies with a small initial bet. There is leverage but not indebtedness.
The structure of Bolloré group is much less complicated than in the past, but is reorganization takes time. In order to reduce the “holding company discount”, Vincent Bolloré has undertaken to simplify the structure of the conglomerate, about 30 000 employees. Most of them are employed by a large logistic division, which cohabits with various activities: special papers, power distribution, high-performance battery, terminals for airports…Since the beginning of the decade, medias are also part of Bolloré Group’s businesses. Vincent Bolloré keeps up many political friendships.
Vincent Bolloré is also a "raider" on the stock exchange market (Ingenico, Vallourec).
According to Challenges, his fortune was estimated in 2011 at 3.8 billion euros. This is the tenth French fortune.
