HSINCHU, Taiwan DrayTek Corp. (TSE:6216), a
Taiwan-based networking solutions provider, today announces
to release firmware upgrade (Version 3.6.2) for Vigor2850
Series, advance integrated firewall router with VDSL2/ADSL2+
fallback and IPv6 Ready to satisfy small business segment.
This upgrade mainly gives Vigor2850 Series more flexibility
to utilize the subscribed bandwidth and safety when some
applications need the access to LAN devices.
Note:
Since Version 3.6.2, Vigor2850 Series supports ISDN
backup feature by Vigor2850i.
Highlights of Version 3.6.2
Vigor2850 Series now offers Smart Bandwidth Limit
feature giving an easier way to allocate bandwidth to both
wired and wireless devices in the LAN site. User only needs
to reserve bandwidth for few most important devices (e.g.
servers carrying essential business applications). Other
devices (e.g. employees' PCs) would simply apply your rules
of Smart Bandwidth Limit without doing setting individually.
You can define these PCs belonging to employees exceeding
certain sessions (e.g. 1,000 sessions) and then downgrade
their TX and RX bandwidth. This feature helps IT ensure the
better bandwidth utilization and saves great deal of time
when they only need to take care of essential devices.
Another is QoS retag which helps another router,
normally in ISP site to process applications based on the
suitable priority. This feature expands QoS coverage from LAN
site to WAN site. Admin can re-tag applications sending out
to ISP and define their priority (tag type based on ISP's
provided information) and then the most essential application
(e.g. VoIP) will be processed first.
Version 3.6.2 also enhances the security when some
applications need "open port" to work with LAN devices
directly by Port Triggering feature. In normal Open Ports
setting, once admin setup the ports be opened, all traffic
can go through these open ports into LAN devices which has
the security concern. With Port Triggering function, the
ports will be opened only when specific application, such as
Real Player triggers the specific ports, and then the needed
ports will be opened automatically.
