Cabinet of Ministers : Meeting to follow-up on bread distribution & production

Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury, held meeting to follow-up on the bread production and distribution system, in the presence of Ministers of Supply and Finance, Governors of Giza, Red Sea, Qalubyia, Gharbyia, Monofyia, Qena, Behira, Dahklyia, and Fayoum, as well as General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, Head of the Holding Company for Food Industries, Head of Commerce Chamber Federation and Head of the Bread Chambers. The Minister of Supply stated that the meeting tackled procedures carried by the government over the recent period in dealing with the bread production and distribution system especially during Ramadan month, confirming the provision of bread with enough quantities and high quality nationwide. The meeting tackled urgent procedures carried by the government in responding to all employees' demands in the bread sector. The Ministry of Finance will provide 100 million out of EGP 250 million as accumulated debts and financial delays for employees in the bread sector and owners of bakeries since 2008. The meeting also approved provision of quality incentive and solar price difference from 2008-2010. The Minister added that the government has responded to all demands of owners of bakeries, where number of bakeries reach 23,000-24,000 nationwide producing 180,000 bread daily. The Minister of Supply stated that Ramadan month will witness development in bakeries industry including bread provision and quality, where ministries of supply and interior trade have carried all procedures required to increase wheat production, and local importation. The Ministry started amending percent of bread mixture to be 60% local what, 30% imported wheat and 10% corn. The government insists on delivering subsidy to needy people with subsidized price especially in the bread production & distribution system, and the Ministry of Supply is studying the bread system along to expanding in establishment of million breads nationwide.
