MC Endeavors Director U.S. Ambassador Lewis Lucke Travels to Haiti to Survey Reconstruction Programs after New President Elected

announced that its Director U.S.
Ambassador Lewis Lucke is traveling to Haiti to survey the
reconstruction programs after last week's announcement that musician Michel
Martelly had won the Presidential Election with 67.57% of the
votes.
Ambassador Lucke stated, "As President, Martelly will face the huge
challenge of trying to rebuild a Caribbean Country that was already in
poverty status well before the January 12, 2010 earthquake which killed
more than 300,000 people, made more than 1.5
million homeless, and bludgeoned the fragile economy." The
Ambassador went on to state that, "Hundreds of thousands of destitute
earthquake victims are still living in squalid tent and tarpaulin camps
clamoring for jobs and housing, and Martelly will have to work closely
with private local and international donors to ensure prompt delivery
and effective use of $10
billion in foreign aid."
