More wine, less beer and spirits

The registered turnover of wine was nearly 75 million litres in 2012; an increase of almost 800 thousand litres, or 1.1 per cent from 2011. Alcopops also shows a growth, while sales of beer and spirits went down.

Registered sales of alcopops increased by 5.0 per cent, while sales of beer and spirits decreased by 4.5 and 4.1 per cent respectively from 2011 to 2012. Turnover in litres for the three alcohol groups in 2012 was 12.4 million, 242.1 million and 11.6 million respectively.

Registered turnover in Norway in 2012 was 6.21 litres of pure alcohol per capita. This is a decrease of 0.23 litres, or 3.4 per cent from 2011.

Total registered turnover of pure alcohol was 25.2 million litres in 2012. This breaks down into 10.9 million litres of beer, 9.3 million litres of wine, 4.5 million litres of spirits and 0.6 million litres of alcopops.

Figures for the 1st quarter of 2011 have been revised due to changes in the underlying data.
