A disused village chapel in Little Bentley looks set to be converted into a new home.
Tendring District Council (TDC) has granted planning permission for the scheme in Church Road.
Malcolm Robinson wants to turn the building into a three-bedroom property including a first floor addition over the existing ground floor school room, as well as a single storey extension at the back.
The application also involves a new cart lodge and retention of an existing access track which is already constructed.
The site is included in the settlement development boundary for the village in the emerging local plan and not designated for any other use.
TDC decided the use is acceptable and the design would bring about an improvement in the in the chapel's appearance and enhance the area.
Little Bentley Parish Council supported the proposal and there were no other representations.
