WASHINGTON D.C.-The U.S. Chamber of Commerce applauded
aircraft manufacturer Airbus today for their announcement
of a new manufacturing facility in Mobile, Alabama. This
manufacturing facility, the company's first based in the
U.S., will add as many as 1,000 new high-skilled jobs to
the 210,000 American jobs already supported by the
company's partnerships with hundreds of U.S. suppliers in
more than 40 states.
"Today's announcement is a clear signal to companies around
the world that the U.S. remains a major manufacturing hub
that welcomes investment," said Thomas J. Donohue,
president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. "A leader in the
global aerospace industry, Airbus' decision shows enormous
confidence not only in U.S. markets but also in U.S.
workers."
"This is another step forward in our country's broader
economic recovery, but we must continue to foster a
business friendly environment. Global capital and
investment will only go where it is safe and welcome,"
Donohue continued.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest
business federation representing the interests of more than
3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as
well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
