The U.S. Coast Guard late Thursday morning reopened part of the Intracoastal Waterway near Galveston, Texas, that was closed Wednesday morning after a barge struck the Pelican Island Causeway.

The Coast Guard halted vessel movements at the Pelican Island Bridge and Texas International Terminal after the incident.

The MMLP 321 barge that struck the causeway was carrying 30,000 bbl of vacuum gasoil, USCG said.
