Abengoa and Loyola University inaugurate the new headquarters of the Loyola Leadership School at the Campus Palmas Altas
  • The new center will offer courses and postgraduate studies for professionals attending the future Loyola Andalucía University.

Seville, 25 November 2011.- Abengoa has strengthened its commitment to research and training with the opening of the Loyola Leadership School, a pioneering education center for training professionals, in collaboration with the Loyola Andalucía University Foundation. The opening ceremony, which took place today at the Campus Palmas Altas, Abengoa's corporate headquarters in Seville, was attended by Felipe Benjumea Llorente, Chairman of Abengoa; Ildefonso Camacho Laraña, President of the Loyola Andalucía University Foundation and President of the ETEA; and Gabriel Pérez Alcalá, Vice-President of the Loyola Andalucía University Foundation and Director of the ETEA.

The Loyola Leadership School has been created as a center for postgraduate studies and training for professionals, which will be incorporated into the Loyola Andalucía University in the future. The new university intends to contribute to the development of society, training leaders in every area of knowledge. The Loyola Andalucía University plans to offer courses on business management and administration, economics, law, tourism, social work and social policies, education, communication, engineering and new technologies.

The Loyola Leadership School is part of a network of 233 university centers around the world offering training that is characterized by an open-minded approach to examining the world in an inquisitive and passionate way, but also with an intellectual diligence that sets it apart from other centers. The school has two campuses, one in Seville at the Campus Palmas Altas, Abengoa's headquarters, and the other in the city of Córdoba.

During the 2011/2012 academic year, the center will give 15 courses for senior managers to train them in the latest management trends and strategies, and management and leadership skills. Furthermore, the Loyola Leadership School will offer eight postgraduate programs that will be based on the current needs of the labor market in collaboration with the most influential companies in today's world of business.

The Loyola Leadership School was created as a project prior to the definitive opening of the Loyola Andalucía University, a private educational center led by the Company of Jesus and Abengoa. The Loyola Andalucía University was created with the aim of becoming the leading center for private university education in Andalusia.

At the start of this year, Abengoa and the Loyola Andalucía University Foundation presented the Loyola-Abengoa Research Centre, to promote the development of educational and research activities based on renewable energy and sustainable development. The Research Centre is also a shared space for training professionals in R&D+i activities and a high-level scientific and technological forum that is capable of proposing solutions for the future in the areas of renewable energy and sustainable development. The Loyola-Abengoa Research Centre is also based at the Campus Palmas Altas.

Abengoa is reasserting its commitment to research and training through this new educational project, promoting excellence in higher education in Andalusia.
