Accenture Federal Services has delivered an integrated enterprise resource planning system that will help the National Capitol Region Medical Directorate (NCR MD) manage healthcare services for one of the largest military markets in the nation.

NCR MD, a part of the Defense Health Agency, is the first organization outside of the U.S. Army to fully integrate into the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS). GFEBS streamlines business processes at more than 200 Army bases and offices in 71 countries by creating a single source for financial, real property, cost management and performance data, as well as a core system of record for the Army General Fund.

Officials will be able to access and analyze financial data in real time, giving NCR MD leadership more reliable and readily accessible data for improved decision making. GFEBS also will make it easier for NCR MD to work more closely with business partners including the U.S. Army and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. NCR MD joins a system already preparing for the 2017 Department of Defense audit.

“GFEBS is a solid foundation to help NCR MD meet the medical needs of our servicemen and women, enhancing support capabilities for our wounded warriors while addressing Congressional mandates for greater financial accountability of tax dollars,” said Joe Chenelle, who leads Accenture’s defense and intel business. “Accenture’s support in bringing GFEBS to NCR MD exemplifies what matters most to Accenture - delivering high performance to our clients and the people they serve.”

NCR MD exercises control over the largest military health market: seven military and joint service military treatment facilities and related facilities that include family health clinics and related facilities in the region. NCR MD’s focus is to integrate services to provide convenient and accessible healthcare for the area’s military community.

Accenture fully deployed GFEBS for the U.S. Army in 2012. The system has been awarded the prestigious Army Knowledge Management Award by the Office of the Army Chief Information Officer. The award recognizes outstanding organizational efforts by Accenture and the Army to improve decision-making by establishing a knowledge management culture.
