'ERAOLE by Aéroports de Paris' Aéroports de Paris, major partner in the hybrid biofuel and solar powered aircraft project

The 'Ocean Vital' foundation and its director, Raphaël Dinelli, are aiming to cross the Atlantic, leaving the stopovers and carbon footprint behind. In the wake of Charles Lindbergh, Jean Mermoz and Dick Rutan, this skipper and four-time participant in the 'Vendée Globe' race, has set himself the challenge of flying from New York to Paris-Le Bourget in a hybrid electric-powered aeroplane. This plane will combine the use of solar panels and a range extender that works by using microalgae-based biofuel. When it comes to emissions, 'ERAOLE' will be carbon-neutral and particle-free.

In partnership with 'Ocean Vital', which aims to protect the oceans and the planet from pollution, Aéroports de Paris is supporting this project in reaffirming its commitment to reducing the per passenger CO2emissions of its airport infrastructure by 50% between 2009 and 2020, while increasing traffic.
The 'ERAOLE' aeroplane will be assembled on 2 July at Sables d'Olonne, in the presence of Patrick Jeantet, Chief Operating Officer of Aéroports de Paris.
The first test flights could take place in September. The plane will be on show during COP21 in December, and the record attempt for the Atlantic crossing is set for
2016.
