Nay Pyi Daw, Myanmar: Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, recently announced the contract win of a 95 MW natural gas power project in Myanmar.  Commissioned by Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise (MEPE), a department of the Ministry of Electric Power, additional power is being brought in to support the national grid during the summer months where a drop in rainfall levels effects the production of power.  With over 70% of the country's energy supply dependent on hydropower, a fast-track temporary power solution guarantees continuous power in the immediate term.

The interim power site will be located in the Myingyan district, set in the Mandalay Division of central Myanmar, and will use natural gas from the Sino-Burma pipeline, ensuring a reliable power supply while keeping running costs down.  The Ministry of Electric Power, Myanmar sought a provider who could design, deploy and commission a large power site quickly and safely, ensuring continuous power during the summer months.

Debajit Das, Regional Director APAC said, "Myanmar is a growing economy with enormous potential and a perfect candidate to benefit from interim power solutions.  With ambitious growth plans, reliable power is often a critical catalyst where infrastructure is still under development.  Aggreko's solutions not only provide our customers with reliable and flexible options, but importantly, promote local resources where possible. This project highlights our ability to design and deliver fast track optimised power solutions that support economic growth and prosperity."
