The stock of Alphabet Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG) closed at $969.96 gaining 1.92% in yesterday’s trading session. This company together with Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) and Facebook, Inc (NASDAQ:FB) have been summoned at an open hearing of the House Intelligence Committee and the aim is to have them testify on a number of sensitive issues.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has over quite some time grilled them in an effort to find out whether or not they had a hand over alleged Russian scandal. The country is believed to have cooperated with a number of social media companies to influence the 2016 U.S. election that saw President Trump ascend to power. These companies will be answering questions from two committees.

An analyst following closely on the matter opined, “The Senate and House intelligence committees are two of the main congressional panels probing allegations that Russia sought to interfere in the U.S. election to boost Republican President Donald Trump’s chances at winning the White House.”

A number of the major U.S. intelligence agencies had earlier stated that Russia had played a key role in the hacking the U.S election. The three companies are at the moment probing their systems in a bid to find out whether it is true Russia connected services which influenced the last elections.

The congressional investigators have obtained important information from the social media companies. They have received about 3,000 ads which are closely linked to Russia from Facebook.

On the other hand, Twitter got in touch with the investigators revealing that it had already yanked 201 accounts linked to Russian entities which had purchased numerous ads on Facebook. The Kremlin-linked website spent $274,100 for U.S. ads back in 2006 as was disclosed by Twitter.

A large number of Federal lawmakers are disappointed with the Russian election interference. The worries of these top executives have culminated in the set up of a law to compel the Silicon Valley firms as well as the rest of the digital advertising companies to fully disclose any helpful information. The whole world is watching to see what happens in the long run.
