Alstom has signed two long-term service agreements (LTSA) with AS Eesti Energia Narva Elektrijaamad, following a public procurement process for the maintenance of the boilers and turbines at the Narva power plants in Estonia. Narva Power Plants produce almost 90% of electricity in Estonia. The previous long term service agreements were for the period of 2000-2013. The duration of these new contracts is 34 months, starting in March 2014, and they include a prolongation possibility for an additional 2 years.

The scope of the agreement includes scheduled and unscheduled repair & overhauls of four Foster Wheeler 115MW CFB (Circulating Fluidised Bed) boilers, 14 Taganrog 100MW PC (Pulverised Combustion) boilers and 9 LMZ turbines.

"This agreement to prolong the maintenance of Narva Power Plants will further strengthen our long co-operation with Eesti Energia and is proof of our technical capabilities to provide value-added service for the customer, " says Karl Jaanimägi, Managing Director of Alstom in Estonia.

Alstom has previously supplied enhanced dust removal systems (electrostatic precipitators) to clean the flue gases of the boilers of all the power units and performed three low-pressure (LP) turbine retrofits at the Narva power plants. During 2010-2013 Alstom supplied new semi-dry desulphurization systems (DeSOx) for four energy blocks at the Narva plants.

In January 2011 Alstom and Eesti Energia signed a contract for the new 300 MW Auvere power plant in Narva. The new plant is based on Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler technology which uses local oil shale and biomass for burning. The construction of the power plant is proceeding according to the schedule.
