Lexington, KY., (July 30, 2015) - Learn more about your tap water while having fun on a summer evening!

As previously announced, Kentucky American Water will host its 6th annual WaterFest community open house on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at its 2300 Richmond Road location in Lexington. The event is free, open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
"WaterFest continues to be a fun, educational evening for individuals and families to learn more about how our team transforms lake and river water into quality drinking water and then delivers it to their taps," said Cheryl Norton, president of Kentucky American Water. "Our employees enjoy hosting this event each year, and
we've been delighted with the community's response. Each year we have hundreds of people attend, and as they leave, they always tell us they have learned something new, and they are all smiles."
The company initiated WaterFest in 2010 in conjunction with its 125th anniversary of operation. The event is designed to provide the community with an up-close, informative and fun view of how water withdrawn from a reservoir and river is transformed into nationally recognized, quality drinking water. This year's event will include educational exhibits and demonstrations by Kentucky American Water staff in conjunction with many community partners, covering topics such as water supply engineering, infrastructure renewal, and environmental stewardship.
WaterFest is family-friendly and will include refreshments like snow cones and cotton candy as well as fun children's activities, including face-painting and a duck pond. Due to construction on the property of a new filtration building for the Richmond Road water treatment plant, tours of the plant will not be offered to visitors this year.
