PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER ANNOUNCES $1.7 MILLION WATER LINE UPGRADES FOR ARCHBALD, JERMYN AND MAYFIELD AREAS

Project replaces outdated water main dating back to 1911

SCRANTON, Pa. (May 20, 2015) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced upgrades to more than

10,000 feet of water main in Archbald, Jerymn and Mayfield to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which
replace water main dating as far back as the 1911, is approximately $1.7 million.
The projects, which began this week, include replacing existing four-, and six-inch cast iron water mains with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along the following streets:
 Archbald

o Filbert Street

o State Street

o Howell Street

o Beech Street

o Division Street

o High Street

 Jermyn

o Lincoln Avenue

o Franklin Street

 Mayfield

o Dean Street

Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the water main installation, including transfer of all customer services, final restoration, and paving by the end of September.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
