LOCAL STUDENT AWARDED PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER "STREAM OF LEARNING" SCHOLARSHIP HERSHEY, Pa. (May 25, 2017) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced 10 students across Pennsylvania have been selected to receive Stream of Learning Scholarships, including a Cumberland Valley High School senior. This is the eighth year that Pennsylvania American Water has offered the scholarships, which support outstanding students in its service areas who are charting a course of study critical to the water and wastewater industry. Each winning student receives a $1,000 scholarship.

Locally, Pennsylvania American Water awarded a scholarship to Chase Rohrer of Cumberland Valley High School, who plans to attend Pennsylvania State University to study engineering.

A panel of judges selected the winners from more than more than 100 scholarship applicants, evaluating them on criteria including academic achievement, letters of recommendation, community service and future careers plans in the water and wastewater industry.

"We believe Chase is very deserving of our Stream of Learning Scholarship, because he is not only an excellent student with high academic achievements but also shares our commitment to environment stewardship and community service," said Pennsylvania American Water President Jeffrey McIntyre.

In addition to the local students, Pennsylvania American Water awarded 2017 Stream of Learning Scholarships to Briana Long of Palmyra Area High School (Lebanon County), Zachary McMinn of Central Dauphin High School (Dauphin County), Haley Myer of Wilson High School (Berks County), Alexis Tayoun of Old Forge High School (Lackawanna County), Tacie Telesky of Milton Area High School (Northumberland County), Sarah Oldenburg of Peters Township High School (Washington County), Natalie Cummings of Canon-McMillan High School (Washington County), Brandon McDermott of Chartiers Valley High School (Allegheny County), and Hudson Wagner of The Linsly School.
