Connected products, solutions and technologies showcased will help embedded systems designers address opportunities in Smart Manufacturing and the Internet of Things

Jan 26, 2015

Poing, Germany - Avnet Memec, an Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) company, together with its supplier partners, will present the latest products and technologies at the Embedded World show in Nuremberg from February, 24th-26th. Avnet Memec will highlight its substantially expanded range of solutions and products for IoT, from wired and wireless connectivity, through power management and security, to front-end technologies in sensing and monitoring. Continuing its Embedded World tradition, Avnet Memec will also exclusively host the Maxim Integrated Tech Lounge.

IoT is the major focus in Avnet Memec, as European President Steve Haynes explains: "The Internet of Things has grown beyond the hype of recent years, into a platform that will deliver real solutions, real growth, from 2015 onwards. Without doubt there is huge potential, with companies like Cisco predicting that 50 billion 'things' will be connected to the Internet by 2020.

"Many of the vital ingredients for new IoT applications are now in place. There is tangible demand from both industry and consumers; and many of the technical enablers are also market-ready. Distributors and design partners like Avnet Memec, with market knowledge, competences and specialised solutions, will play an important role in enabling OEMs and designers to grasp the new opportunities presented by IoT."

As well as an expanded Internet of Things zone, the Avnet Memec booth will host a specialist Industrie 4.0 area, multi-supplier technology-focused demonstrations, and the dedicated Maxim Integrated Tech Lounge.

The Internet of Things
IoT demonstrations include the latest low-power wide-area wireless networks based on SIGFOX and LoRa-Technology; PowerHouse energy monitoring module, Plug'n Play, robust power line communication and SmartServer web connectivity from Avnet; seamless integration of different networks, nodes, sensors and actuators into single cloud services and web-based applications; cloud-on-chip solutions from Telecom Design; IzoT chips, stacks, interfaces, and management software from Echelon; IoT security solutions; Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy modules and IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/BT WLAN Modules. Also demonstrated are M2M solutions from Avnet Memec partners Quectel, Sierra Wireless and Wyless.

Industrie 4.0
Smart manufacturing products presented in the Industrie 4.0 area range from microcontrollers, through sensors and power devices, to advanced HMI and control technologies, data processing and communications devices. Featured suppliers include Microsemi, Renesas, Microchip, Finisar, Silicon Labs and Allegro Microsystems.

Supplier focus
Supplier partners Coilcraft, Echelon, Intersil, Macronix, Marvell, MPS and Semtech will each feature a focused area, presenting their product and solution range for power supply or energy management, for wireless, power line and wired communication, and for sensing and control.

Maxim Integrated Tech Lounge
The Maxim Integrated Tech Lounge offers a dedicated area with three demo stations showcasing Maxim's innovative and highly integrated solutions for industrial power, industrial interface, and signal-chain applications. The first demo station features a family of high-voltage buck converters which satisfies all requirements for programmable logic controller designs. The second station highlights the industry`s fastest 5kV RMS and 2.75kV RMS digital isolators and isolated RS-485 transceivers, along with secure H-RFID products with energy harvesting and I2C master, IO-Link solutions, and industrial output drivers. The third demo area highlights the MAX11300, a new mixed-signal PIXI™ technology addressing the analogue design engineers' need for a multipurpose, highly integrated solution to significantly shorten design time and time to market. Also displayed are Maxim's zero drift and "beyond the rail" industrial amplifiers, as well as the MAXREFDES70# ultrasonic flow meter system which runs for 20 years on a single battery and monitors water and heat flow with 10x better accuracy and ultra-low power performance.

Throughout Embedded World 2015, visitors will have the opportunity to meet application engineers and experts from Avnet Memec and its partners at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre.
