FLORHAM PARK, NJ, February 12, 2013 --BASFtoday announced it will donate high-performance polyurethane spray foam insulation to theNew York Says Thank You (NYSTY)First Responder Rebuilding Fund and theBeach Haven Volunteer Fire Company Stationto help with Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts.

The NYSTY First Responder Rebuilding Fund is a $5 million dollar operation organized to help rebuild 200 homes of underinsured Fire Department City of New York (FDNY), New York Police Department (NYPD) and New York Department of Sanitation (DSNY) first responders who had homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The rebuilding of the homes is being supported byskilled volunteer labor, in-kind material suppliers, third-party financial donations, and a national network of experts in disaster relief andlong-term mass rebuilding projects.

The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company, established in 1883, is the oldest fire company in Ocean County, New Jersey. The station, now in the process of being rebuilt, received substantial damage during the storm while its firefighters were involved in more than 100 rescues of local residents from their homes.

Through its Performance Materials Division, BASF will donate high-performance spray foam to both projects. The spray foam provides buildings and homes with high insulation values, near-zero air permeability, increased building strength, severe weather and flood resistance, increased occupant comfort, improved indoor air quality and lower environmental impacts.

BASF customer Airseal Insulation Systems, Brooklyn, New York, is donating the labor needed to apply the spray foam to the 200 homes being rebuilt for New York's first responders, and LBI Insulation of Beach Haven, New Jersey, is donating the spray insulation labor at the fire station.

This assistance comes in addition to donations previously announced by the BASF Foundation USA to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Through BASF Foundation USA , BASF made a $250,000 cash donation among the Governor's Funds in affected states. BASF Foundation USA is also matching employee contributions to tax-exempt organizations (under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) that are directly involved in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts up to an additional $250,000.
