On Friday 19 May 2017, St George celebrated the handover of 50 shared ownership and 34 affordable rented homes at Battersea Reach to Wandle Housing Association.

The new homes in Nautical House are the latest phase of Battersea Reach, which is now in its final stages of development.

Upon completion of Meridian and Nautical Houses, St George will have delivered 1,212 new homes at Battersea Reach, including 280 affordable homes for social rent and shared ownership.

The handover event was attended by the Leader of Wandsworth Council, Councillor Ravi Govindia, Tracey Lees (Chief Executive of Wandle Housing Association), Richard Raeburn (Chair of Wandle Housing Association), and Michael Bryn-Jones (Managing Director of St George).

Councillor Ravi Govindia said:

'It is great to see more high quality new affordable homes being delivered at Battersea Reach. Wandsworth Council is committed to delivering affordable homes in our borough and these new shared ownership and rented homes will make an important contribution, adding to those already delivered at Battersea Reach.'

Tracey Lees, Chief Executive of Wandle, commented:

'As Wandle celebrates 50 years of changing lives, we know that a good quality, affordable home is the key to a successful and fulfilling life. Working with St George and the London Borough of Wandsworth means that we can once again make this a reality by providing 84 homes for affordable rent or shared ownership in an area of high demand.

'Delivering affordable homes in this very high value part of London is a challenge but we are delighted that we have been able to offer a new home to those in need and those wanting to get on the homeownership ladder.'

Michael Bryn-Jones, Managing Director of St George, added:

'We are very proud of what we have delivered at Battersea Reach, not just the high quality homes across all tenures, but also the wonderful public realm, parkland and new commercial centre providing local amenities as well as employment opportunities. Battersea Reach is home to the British Ballet Organisation, Plus One Gallery and much-loved Cake Boy.

It is fifteen years since we started construction at Battersea Reach; we have transformed a former brownfield site into a thriving new community.'

When complete, Battersea Reach will comprise 1,350 homes and over 100,000 sq ft of commercial space, with over half of the thirteen acre site dedicated to public open space.
