Brewin Dolphin : Garden wins People’s Choice Award at RHS Chatsworth 2017

The Brewin Dolphin Garden, designed by Jo Thompson for the first annual RHS Chatsworth Flower Show, has won the People's Choice Award in the FreeForm category.

The wealth manager's garden was a spectacular horticultural installation celebrating the landscape of the 1,000-acre parkland of the Chatsworth Estate and the elegance and beauty of Chatsworth House. Sited on the banks of the River Derwent, the scale of the garden reflected the grandeur of its setting, combining modern industrial materials with naturalistic planting.

Central to the design was an imposing contemporary sculpture crafted from 700 reinforcing steel bars that swept through the space, taking in the shape of the river in a series of wide curves before cantilevering dramatically out over the water. Here, it appeared to hang suspended in mid-air before sweeping back to the riverbank and spiralling into a circular enclosed building.
