CITY, STATE (Month, Day, Year)- Specialty food distributor, Chefs' Warehouse, has chosen TMC, a division of C.H. Robinson, to improve supply chain visibility and control logistics costs. TMC will manage the execution of their supply chain strategy for North America by providing a cloud-based TMS and managed services. Similar to other customers, TMC's extensive food and beverage supply chain expertise, flexibility, talented professionals, and Managed TMS® service played a large role in the decision.

Every year Chefs' Warehouse ships roughly 45,000 shipments-mostly refrigerated less than truckload (LTL)-from 25 different locations. With distribution centers in eight major metropolitan areas across the United States and Canada, Chefs' Warehouse encompasses seven premiere brands and serves the finest restaurants, hotels, caterers, and gourmet stores in North America. Prior to working with TMC, logistics for each entity under the Chefs' Warehouse umbrella operated independently from one another and without a transportation management system (TMS).

Chefs' Warehouse sent out RFPs to several logistics companies, looking for the right fit. Early on, they knew that a managed solution was the best option for their needs. They liked TMC's ability to combine both advanced technology and skilled expertise through their Managed TMS approach.

'We've been growing our logistics team, and now with the TMS, we're exactly the right size. We're looking forward to automating some of our manual processes and transitioning tactical roles to more analytical ones now that we have TMC involved,' shared Steven Lang, director of Logistics and Inventory Management at Chef's Warehouse, 'Of course we're anticipating the cost savings, but in the long term we're most interested in having historical data available to act on new improvement opportunities.'
