National Chain Assigned Patent for Self Stopping Bead

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 10 -- National Chain, Warwick, Rhode Island, has been assigned a patent (9,808,056) developed by Steven A. Cipolla, Warwick, Rhode Island, for a "self stopping bead with outer shell and inner resilient tube." The abstract states: "A method of making a self-stopping bead for jewelry. The method comprises the steps of: inserting a resilient tube with an axial passage lengthwise into a relatively rigid tube having a longitudinal axis; deforming the rigid tube inward toward said axis at at least first and second spaced-apart locations along said axis until the rigid tube is necked down at said locations enough to pinch the resilient tube at a depression; and severing the rigid tube and the resilient tube at said depressions thereby forming a self-stopping bead with opposing holes wherein during the step of deforming, the rigid tube and the resilient tube are pinched off so that each hole in the bead receives therein an end of the resilient tube so that the resilient inner tube has a length substantially the same as an axial length of the self-stopping bead between the opposed bead holes."

The patent application was filed on March 1, 2016 (15/057,693). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=9,808,056.PN.&OS=PN/9,808,056&RS=PN/9,808,056

Emissive Energy Assigned Patent for Pistol Mounted Light

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 10 -- Emissive Energy, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, has been assigned a patent (9,810,411) developed by two co-inventors for a "pistol mounted light and operation thereof." The co-inventors are Robert D. Galli, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and Christopher J. O'Brien, Wakefield, Rhode Island. The abstract states: "A flashlight for use with a pistol, the pistol having a trigger guard and a mounting rail. The flashlight includes an elongated housing having a clamping mechanism for mounting to the mounting rail, a light source at one end thereof, and paddle switches at an opposing end."

The patent application was filed on Aug. 22, 2016 (15/242,917). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=9,810,411.PN.&OS=PN/9,810,411&RS=PN/9,810,411

C.R. Bard Inc. Assigned Patent for Soft Tissue Repair Prosthesis, Expandable Device

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 10 -- C.R. Bard Inc., Murray Hill, New Jersey, has been assigned a patent (9,808,331) developed by two co-inventors for "soft tissue repair prosthesis and expandable device." The co-inventors are Augustus Felix, Cranston, Rhode Island, and Michael F. Jacene, Blackstone, Massachusetts. The abstract states: "A hernia repair device is provided which may include a soft tissue repair prosthesis and an expandable device configured to be removably connected with the soft tissue repair prosthesis. Attachment components may be used to removably connect the soft tissue repair prosthesis with the expandable device. The hernia repair device may be manipulated into a reduced configuration for insertion into the body. When expanded, the expandable device may be configured to position the soft tissue repair prosthesis adjacent a hernia defect. The expandable device and/or the attachment components may be shaped and/or configured to minimize the maximum dimension of the hernia repair device in its reduced configuration."

The patent application was filed on Aug. 30, 2011 (13/877,835). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=9,808,331.PN.&OS=PN/9,808,331&RS=PN/9,808,331

National Chain Assigned Patent for Jewelry Setting

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 10 -- National Chain, Warwick, Rhode Island, has been assigned a patent (9,808,055) developed by Steven A. Cipolla, Warwick, Rhode Island, for jewelry setting. The abstract states: "A jewelry snap setting for supporting a jewel and that includes a one-piece support member having a base portion having multiple sides and a plurality of elongated prongs with one extending from each respective side of the base portion. Each elongated prong includes contiguous respective proximal biasing and distal retaining portions. Each proximal biasing portion extends integrally from a respective side of the base portion, and at least said proximal biasing portion has an arcuate cross-section in a direction that is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the proximal biasing portion."

The patent application was filed on Jan. 21, 2015 (14/601,614). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=9,808,055.PN.&OS=PN/9,808,055&RS=PN/9,808,055

Teknor Apex Assigned Patent for Lightweight, High Flow Hose Assembly

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 10 -- Teknor Apex, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, has been assigned a patent (9,810,357) developed by eight co-inventors for a "lightweight, high flow hose assembly and method of manufacture." The co-inventors are Gil Blanchette, East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Michael Melo, North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Steve Correa, Brownsville, Tennessee, Timothy L. Chapman, Stanton, Tennessee, Marlon Van Beek, Simpsonville, South Carolina, John W. Parker Jr., Memphis, Tennessee, Paul Burke, Essex, Vermont, and Ron Eilertson, Mansfield, Massachusetts. The abstract states: "A hose assembly, preferably a garden hose assembly, including a fabric jacketed tube that is lightweight, durable and versatile. The tube is radially expandable when pressurized by a fluid, such as water, but does not increase in length. The two layer construction of the hose assembly allows for storage in relatively compact spaces, similar flow rates, approximately one-half the weight, and improved maneuverability when compared to conventional hose constructions. In one embodiment the jacket is formed around the tube in a continuous process that welds a fabric, preferably using hot air, into the jacket. The welded joint forms a region of jacket that is preferably about twice the thickness of the rest of the jacket. This thicker region results in a stiffer section of jacket that makes the hose more controllable and consistent in use."

The patent application was filed on June 4, 2015 (14/730,852). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=9,810,357.PN.&OS=PN/9,810,357&RS=PN/9,810,357
