Cable & Wireless Panama, the Panama business of Cable & Wireless Communications, has won an international award for the quality of its internet data centres.
Cable & Wireless Panama, which has two internet data centres located in Panama City, was named the best Panamanian company certified in ISO 9001. The operator beat nine other companies to win the award.
The award was presented by the International Global Certification Group, which is responsible for the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification process in Panama, the Caribbean, Spain, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
The ISO is the world's largest developer of voluntary international standards for products, services and good practice. ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and has been implemented by over one million companies and organisations in over
170 countries. The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation of top management, the process approach and continual
improvement.
Jorge Nicolau, the Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Panama, said:
"This is another great accomplishment for our internet data centres and the team who run them. We are aiming to complete the ISO20000 and ISO27000 certification processes in 2014."
The data centres provide a full range of managed services for the company's Government and enterprise clients, including data hosting, storage, back-up, monitoring and disaster recovery. The company also provides virtualised IT Infrastructure services. Cable & Wireless Panama is a certified Cisco Advanced Cloud and Managed Services Provider.
