The rapid change of the landscape at the Paradise development in Birmingham, has been captured in some stunningdrone footage, showing the progress made by Carillion on the city centre site.

Filmed last month, the footage shows how the first phase of demolition is almost complete and records the demolition of Adrian Boult Hall with shots of the high-reach demolition machine in action.

As the drone flies over the site it also captures the foundations of One Chamberlain Square. Carillion was named as preferred bidder for the first new building at Paradise in July this year. The first piles can be seen for the 172,000ft building which will include a roof terrace on the sixth floor offering spectacular views across the city.

Some of those views can also be seen in the drone footage with many of the city's iconic buildings - Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Council House and Town Hall visible.

Carillion operations director, Simon Dingle said: "It is amazing to see just how much the site has changed since we started demolition in December last year and the new views that have opened up as the work has progressed.

"In the next few weeks we will be continuing with the next stage of the development programme in preparation for the start of construction of the initial buildings on site."

The Paradise redevelopment is being brought forward through Paradise Circus Limited Partnership, a private-public joint venture with Birmingham City Council. Argent is the development manager.
