One group of physicians focused on the "Analysis of diagnostic strategies forSjogren's syndrome in France in primarycare clinics using an electronic health database(3)".Their work was presented at the 76thFranco-Maghreb InternalMedicine Conference. Another group dealt with "Assessing monitoring of recommendations for treating urinary infections in primary care clinics in France(4)". The second group presented their resultsin June at the French Infectious DiseaseSociety's 19thannual conference in Nantes.

THINis the new name for GERS Data's real-life database

GERS Dataisnow marketing the database created from Cegedim's medical software in France and the UK under thenameTHIN (The Health Improvement Network). The database uses a big data format that can be accessed using AI techniques. The UK version ofTHINhas been used in over 600 research papers worldwide and is well known in international medical research circles.

TheTHINdatabase complies with all current data protection laws (GDPR) and adheres to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) model. That means it is compatible with most existing international data sources. Researchers usingTHINcan extract a targeted, accurate set of medical and economic data on course of care from both private practices and hospitals.

The real-life data are hosted on servers certified to host personal health records and are available virtually in real time. The data can be accessed as anonymized data or with big data technologies using secure SaaS protocols. They meet all standards for quality, representative data for performing real-world research, particularly the requirements for conducting retrospective studies.

GERS Dataunderstands the difficulties "unsponsored(2)"French researchers have had gaining access to real-life medico-economic data. The company is now giving those researchers free access to its data, requiring only a quick, simplified application process.
