China Machinery Engineering : NPC Chairman Zhang Dejiang Visits Kostolac-B Power Station Project in Serbia

On July 17, Zhang Dejiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), inspected Serbia's Kostolac-B power station project undertaken by CMEC. He was accompanied by Ms. Gojkovic, the Serbian National Parliament Speaker, Ms. Brnabić, Prime Minister of Serbia, Mr. Antić, Serbian Minister of Energy, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, Zhang Chun, CMEC's President, and Wang Pengfei, manager of the Phase-II project of the power station.

Before the visit, NPC Chairman Zhang Dejiang heard President Zhang Chun's report on the implementation of the Phase-II project, and the background and significance of the project. During the visit, Wang Pengfeireported to Mr. Zhang Dejiang on the delivery and operation of the Phase-I project.

Zhang Dejiang was concerned with the progress of the project. He expressed his support for the CMEC in prompting the Serbian party to approve the EIA report as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhang Dejiang required CMEC to ensure the superior quality and timely completion of the project. Mr. Zhang Chun said that, with the support of the government and relevant units, CMEC would double its efforts in the implementation of the Phase-II project and deliver high-quality power station while ensuring the project will be completed on schedule. During the inspection, Zhang Dejiang gave greetings to Chinese and Serbian employees working in the construction site and shook hands with them.
