COSL Successfully Completed a Deep-water In-situ Cone Penetration Testing on the Sea Floor

HYSY709, a geo-tech vessel of China Oilfield Services Limited (the "Company"), has recently completed a full course of in-situ cone penetration testing (CPT) at a depth of 1389 meters for the first time in South China Sea. Having reached a penetration depth of 33.24 meters, the testing successfully obtained continuous transformation curve reference parameters including cone tip resistance and side friction, etc.

Deep-water sea floor in-situ CPT is one of the critical technologies for deep-water surveying. It can continuously test underwater sediments on the sea floor, providing reliable geotechnical parameters to meet requirements of design and installation of undersea structure foundations for deep-water engineering as well as geological evaluation of disasters such as deep-water submarine landslides. It provides important fundamental measures to ensure safety of deep-water development projects.

This is an inaugural operation the Company undertook, in which it deployed its own vessels and testing equipment to complete the test in deepwaters. This is not only a demonstration of the Company's sea floor in-situ testing ability in deep-water surveying, but also another breakthrough for offshore deep-water oil development engineering in China.
