CIC is France's leading regional banking group. Net banking income breaks down by activity as follows:
- retail banking (67.4%): sale of traditional and specialized banking products and services (insurance, equipment and real estate leasing, factoring, etc.) through 2,122 agencies incorporating the networks of five regional banks (Crédit Industriel d'Alsace et de Lorraine, Banque Scalbert Dupont-Crédit Industriel de Normandie, Crédit Industriel de l'Ouest-Banque Régionale de l'Ouest, Banque SNVB, Lyonnaise de Banque and Société Bordelaise de CIC) and the CIC in the Paris region;
- funding and market bank (12.1%): transactions on the interest rate, exchange, and stock markets, stock brokerage, large-business financing, and specialized financing (for projects, assets, real estate, etc.);
- private banking (10.4%);
- investment banking (8.9%): financial engineering (consulting in mergers and acquisitions, stock operations, etc.), investment capital, etc.;
- other (1.2%).
At the end of 2008, CIC managed EUR121.7 billion in current deposits and EUR70.4 billion in current credits.
