Cigna : Recognizes Premier Inc for Commitment to Employee Health and Wellness

Charlotte, NC - September 14, 2016 - Cigna selected Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, as the recipient of the third annual Cigna Well-Being Award for demonstrating a strong commitment to improving the health and wellness of its employees through a workplace wellness program.

Premier's wellness program inspires its 2,100 employees to make healthy choices through daily health messages, an annual health fair, wellness activity challenges, a weekly fresh fruit delivery service and healthy restaurants onsite, sports leagues, physical activity classes, biometric screenings and incentives tied to results, and personal health assessments. In fact, Premier employees saved over $360,000 in premiums in 2015 for meeting wellness incentive criteria.

Applicants are evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including the goals, implementation, incentives, leadership engagement and employee participation. All applications are reviewed and judged by an internal review committee from Cigna.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. employers lose more than $225 billion each year in productivity due to employee health problems. Cigna created the Well-Being Award to recognize employer clients that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of their workforce.
