LIVINGSTON, NJ - CIT Group Inc. (NYSE: CIT), cit.com, a leading provider of commercial lending and leasing services, today announced that BJ Fesq, Chief Architect and Chief Data Officer, Information Technology, has been selected as a recipient of Computerworld's 2016 Premier 100 Technology Award.

The award recognizes Fesq for his work to enhance CIT's data management to comply with new regulatory requirements that came into effect as a result of CIT's acquisition of OneWest Bank. Institutions with assets of more than $50 billion are classified as systemically important financial institutions (SIFI) and subjected to stricter regulatory requirements.

'BJ's deep business and technical acumen have been invaluable to CIT,' said Stacey Goodman, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of CIT. 'He continues to lead strategic efforts to update CIT's technology platform through the use of innovative capabilities in areas including data virtualization and data management.'

Fesq added, 'I am grateful to be part of this prestigious list of honorees. None of these achievements would have been possible without the outstanding work of my team and the strong strategic direction established by CIT's leadership. This award recognizes the accomplishments of our entire team as we strengthen our IT platform to support the Company's business objectives.'

A resident of Madison, New Jersey, Fesq holds several patents, including a predecessor to Google's now popular geocoding patent, which performs geographic proximity searches based on zip codes and great circle mathematics. He graduated from the University of Rochester, where his honors thesis studied the application of artificial intelligence to robotics.
