Southern Africa’s largest private airline operator chooses Sabre Airline Solutions

Sabre Airline Solutions to provide Comair Limited with complete technology platform

Johannesburg, South Africa, 26 September 2011: South African airline operator Comair Limited, the JSE listed aviation group operating British Airways in southern Africa and Africa’s first low fares airline kulula.com,  is to implement Sabre Airline Solutions’ ( http://www.sabreairlinesolutions.com) SabreSonic Customer Sales and Service (CSS) reservations system.

The airline is to install the Sabre Sonic CSS suite – the industry’s most powerful revenue generating reservations system that includes inventory management and check-in systems, and also the AirVision Marketing and Planning suite that provides commercial planning systems that manage schedules, pricing and revenue – as part of an aggressive strategy to improve efficiencies and increase revenue.

Comair has also taken on Sabre’s AirCentre Enterprise Operations, a system that manages flight operations, crew management, airport operations and maintenance planning. It will be implemented across both its British Airways and kulula.com brands.

“An integrated approach across the airline’s core systems, as is the case with Sabre solutions, will make our business more efficient leading to better margins and ultimately more able to adapt to the ever changing landscape within the airline environment,” said Stuart Cochrane,Comair Limited’s executive manager business processes.

Maher Koubaa, Sabre Airline Solutions’ general manager in the Middle East and Africa, said: “We have worked and continue to nurture a close working relationship with Comair. This has enabled us to match investment in our technologies with the specific needs of the airline’s business. We value the partnership with Comair and look forward to playing an important role in their expansion strategy.”

Comair Limited said its decision to move from in-house systems to a Sabre Solutions Portfolio was based upon the trusting relationship that had formed between the companies.

“In order to run an efficient and profitable airline company one must form partnerships with innovative and reliable partners. With Sabre Airline Solutions, we have found a business partner that can assist in supporting our growth strategy,” concluded Cochrane.
