Trading Risk is discussing the alternative modelling scenarios for hurricane analysis, and also reveals that RMS is expecting its Medium Term Rate hurricane model to show a drop of between 5% and 15% in average anticipated losses. Senior Product Manager Tom Sabbatelli explains that a lack of hurricane formation over the last 5 years suggests that 'potentially the forecast should be decreased below the long-term average.'

EDR Insight is releasing its market confidence report for the Bay Area, with 85% of due diligence professionals characterising Oakland as a growing market, and 54% saying the same about San Francisco. No survey respondents suggested either city was 'declining' but 46% believe that San Francisco has peaked and is now levelling off. For market outlook, Oakland scored 3.85 and San Francisco scored 3.67 on a scale from 1 (very pessimistic) to 5 (very optimistic).

Zoopla is revealing that housebuyers from the north east of the UK are the most likely to find a bargain, with a study for the website finding that 33.4% of homes around the UK have had their asking price reduced. Zoopla spokesman Lawrence Hall said that after a year of political and economic upheaval 'the proportion of reduced properties, and their average discount, have remained relatively consistent over the past 12 months.'
