De La Rue : Central Bank of Sri Lanka issues a commemorative 1000 Rupees banknote to mark the 70th Independence Celebration

A new Rs. 1000 commemorative note has been issued by Central Bank of Sri Lanka this week, designed and printed by De La Rue.

The commemorative note is in keeping with the original design of the Rs. 1000, but includes some new designs including the Celebrating Diversity logo, images of a Temple, Mosque, Tamil Kovil and a Church, and the prefix appearing as S70. Below shows the Governor of the Central Bank receiving a presentation frame from Superintendent of Currency Mrs Seneviratne and De La Rue.

De La Rueare very proud to have been working in Sri Lanka for over 30 years, with a manufacturing site in the country that employs local people and contributes to the local economy.
