As part of the Dell Cloud strategy to enable private clouds, Dell is introducing new enhancements to its private cloud services and extending its capabilities to offer secure, compliant cloud services for enterprise-class workloads. The new Dell Cloud Onsite Service allows customers to run demanding private cloud applications and critical workloads on their own premises with full management and support from Dell. In addition, the Dell Cloud Dedicated Service, a hosted private-cloud offering, has expanded its long list of accreditations and certifications by adding PCI compliance to facilitate secure hosting of payment card data, as well as new disaster recovery services allowing for full application recovery to maintain business continuity.

Introducing the Dell Cloud Onsite Service

Organizations with data sensitivities that prohibit the use of an off-premise solution can now benefit from managed private cloud services within their own data centers by using Dell Cloud Onsite Service. Remote management of Dell's on-premise private cloud solutions and the Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution allow full support from Dell at the infrastructure layer.

Payment Card Industry Compliance for Dell Cloud Dedicated

Dell is committed to offering compliant cloud services to enable customers to manage highly sensitive workloads with confidence. In keeping with its record of compliance with healthcare security and privacy standards (HIPAA and HITECH), security standards (ISO27001) and audit standards (SSAE16 SOC1 Type II), the Dell Cloud Dedicated service is newly recognized as compliant with PCI DSS 2.0 Level 1 Service Provider by Stratum Security. PCI compliance requires merchants, banks and organizations that transmit, store and process credit cards to ensure that data is secure or face financial penalties.

In addition, the Dell Cloud Dedicated Service helps customers ensure that virtual workloads in the hosted private cloud solution are PCI compliant because of a number of add-on security services from Dell SecureWorks, including quarterly PCI Scanning services, Vulnerability Management Service, Web Application Scanning Service and Global Threat Intelligence Service.

Business Continuity Solutions for Dell Cloud Dedicated

A September 2013 commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Dell Services found that improved disaster recovery and business continuity was a top consideration in customers' decision to adopt cloud (78 percent of customers cited it as very important or important).

Dell simplifies business continuity planning for enterprises with its new disaster recovery (DR) service option for its hosted private cloud, Dell Cloud Dedicated. The enterprise class solution focuses on common, complex recoverability scenarios. With options for multi- or single-tenant clouds, users can match each workload to the most appropriate DR solution, optimizing budget and ensuring that business continuity plans can be rolled out efficiently across the organization.

The Dell Cloud Dedicated Service also makes file-level backup and restore simple with a new backup solution. This service delivers fast, reliable protection for virtual machines, even when powered off, helping IT reduce the cost of cloud-based backup. The Dell Cloud backup solution stores backup images in-house on a different storage array than primary data, and customers can set retention cycles based upon standards they already have in place, ensuring corporate compliance.

"Business continuity, security and compliance are consistently at the top of our customers' priorities for their private cloud infrastructures," said Jeremy Ford, executive director, cloud services for Dell Services. "We have always focused on helping them host mission-critical workloads with industry-leading security and recovery solutions, whether they manage their private cloud or we do. These new private cloud infrastructure services are a continuation of Dell's leadership in helping customers remain compliant and secure and build on our overarching strategy to enable private clouds for our customers."
