Major deal from Correos worth over EUR 41 million.
T-Systems impresses with cloud expertise.
Cloud-based SAP services cut operating costs.
Correos, the Spanish national postal service, has ordered
cloud-based SAP services from T-Systems. The four-year
contract has a volume of around EUR 41 million. The
Deutsche Telekom subsidiary is taking on the hosting,
operation and ongoing modernization of the SAP
applications, with the aim of harmonizing and consolidating
the company systems of Correos. By transferring its SAP
operations to the Cloud, Correos can keep adjusting its
services in line with current business developments, only
paying for what it actually requires.
Juan Jesús Torres Carbonell, Director of Technology,
Systems and Innovation at Correos, says that "it is
not just about pursuing cost reductions, although this is
important, but also about searching for the best quality
service offered by companies in the technology sector,
which in turn allows for Correos' resources to focus on
driving the business."
T-Systems' wealth of experience in cloud services was
the decisive factor in securing the contract. A recent
study from IDC places T-Systemsamong the
leading providers of cloud services in Europe. At the same
time, T-Systems has a great deal of experience in the
postal sector, with customers such as Deutsche Post DHL,
Neopost and Posta Italiana, and extensive SAP expertise.
Approximately 80 percent of all SAP transactions are
already performed from the cloud. That is more than 28
million SAPS (SAP ApplicationPerformance
Standard) and approximately 3.5 million users
worldwide.
According to Fernando González-Llana, Head of Public Sector
Business and Healthcare at T-Systems in Spain,
"Correos is a public sector pioneer in its adjustment
to the current economic situation. Aware of the major
budget cuts currently needed and the required
competitiveness due to postal market liberalization, they
have decided to break away from the typical inertia
regarding subcontracting staff in public institutions and
turned towards a service delivery model so that austerity
criteria can be applied based on pay per use, without
neglecting the need to improve service quality".
