MIDLAND, Mich. - March 1, 2016 - Frost & Sullivan's Manufacturing Leadership Council announced the results of the 2016 Manufacturing Leadership Awards, honoring The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:Dow) with five awards. The Manufacturing Leadership Awards honor 'companies and individuals that are shaping the future of global manufacturing.'

Based on the submitted project nominations, expert cross-industry judges selected Dow as a company honoree in three categories: New Product Leadership, Big Data and Advanced Analytics Leadership, and Customer Value Leadership. Additionally, Timothy Scott, corporate director, Emergency Services & Security and Don Taylor, vice president, Manufacturing & Engineering, were recognized in the category of Visionary Leadership. Taylor is currently seconded to Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture developed by Dow and Saudi Aramco.

'These awards are a testament to Dow's leadership in manufacturing innovation, our ability to develop collaborative solutions with customers and our advanced analytical abilities, all of which help drive our industry leadership and profitability,' said Peter Holicki, senior vice president of Operations. 'I am also honored to have two of our longstanding leaders recognized with such prestigious awards for their contributions both to Dow and the industry.'

Dow AgroSciences Arylex ™ Herbicide Project - Dow AgroSciences developed a new synthetic herbicide, Arylex™ active ingredient for use in formulations that control broadleaf weeds in the global cereals market, as well as other crops. The low dosage rates required for Arylex™ result in significant benefits including a low environmental load of the herbicide with rapid degradation in soil and tolerant plant tissue allowing for crop rotation flexibility.

Operations Analytics with Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI) Project - The EMI project, sponsored by Dow's Analytical Technology Center and its business partners, was recognized for tackling two distinct challenges: integrating multiple data sources into a uniform operational domain and then applying leading edge data analytics to conquer the multiple large data sets tied to its industrial chemical production processes, turning the terabytes of data generated at Dow each day into useful information.

Pack Studios - Pack Studios is a global network of development centers established by Dow's Packaging and Specialty Plastics business to accelerate materials innovation and application development for packaging. Through a collaborative process that brings equipment manufacturers and package designers together with brand owners and prototyping specialists, Pack Studios offers customers the ability to leverage a wide range of expertise as well as Dow's technologies and materials know-how to enable the faster development of new packaging. Pack Studios is a valuable resource for developing packaging solutions that meet world challenges like food loss and food waste. Currently, one-third of all of the world's food is wasted from the farm to the table. High performance flexible packaging can help keep food safer and fresher longer, so there is more food for consumers to enjoy at home or on the go.

Don Taylor - vice president, Manufacturing & Engineering - Taylor has also been widely recognized for his outstanding leadership in site operations for Sadara. Serving emerging and growing markets in the Middle East and Africa, Sadara Chemical Company will be the largest integrated chemical company ever built in the world in a single phase and is comprised of 26 integrated chemical plants, and is expected to produce over 3 million metric tons of products per year.

Timothy Scott - chief security officer, corporate director, Emergency Services & Security - Scott was recognized for his leadership in Dow's global ES&S network and provides security and event response expertise for operational organizations in more than 200 locations around the world. He is the driving force behind two of the Company's foremost emphases - security and emergency services. Dow's success depends on the security of the Company's products, as well as the safety of Dow people and the communities where the Company operates.

Dow and other Manufacturing Leadership Award winners will receive their awards in June at the 12th annual Manufacturing Leadership Summit in Carlsbad, CA.
