In the future, one million invoices per year - regardless of whether by mail, email, or fax - will be handled in a mid-sized company by a computer completely automatically. That means, the invoices will be recorded, processed, forwarded, and archived. This fully digitized workflow is made possible by software from Mülheim, developed by EASY SOFTWARE AG. 'We wanted to make expertise like this visible in this city, create business contacts, and jointly develop ideas for the business location,' said Jürgen Schnitzmeier, CEO of Mülheim & Business GmbH, explaining the goal of the Business Break. Mülheim & Business organizes the business development program together with the business association Mülheimer Wirtschaft several times a year.

This time, some 60 Mühlheim entrepreneurs and managers met at EASY for the third Business Break of the year. The headquarters of the specialist for document management and the integrated digitization of business processes is located right next to the main train station. The company employees 300 people in Germany, 180 of them in Mülheim. The guests learned not only interesting facts about the digital transformation, but also about the new data protection law. 'We all want data protection, so we also have to embrace the job,' summed up EASY CEO Willy Cremers with an eye toward the data protection 'monster'.

Rainer Berndt, Compliance Manager at the publically traded company, is the expert for the new data protection law, better known as the GDPR. He explained that, along with data protection, business are also required to retain data - business emails must be retained for six years, tax-relevant email for ten. 'Private email is the problem. It is not possible to ensure, either by hand or automatically, that employees' personal information is protected and at the same time that the retention obligations for email are observed.'

The organizers of the Business Break, Hanns-Peter Windfeder and Kerstin Einert-Pieper, both in the business association, and Jürgen Schnitzmeier from Mülheim & Business took the opportunity to welcome the new chairman of the management board at EASY SOFTWARE AG to the city. Dieter Weißhaar started a few days earlier and will replace Willy Cremers as CEO in September.
