PITTSBURGH, PA - Power management company Eaton, in collaboration with the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), is providing educational presentations and moderated panels focused on addressing the planet's most critical energy challenges on Oct.1, at the 2014 World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) in Washington, D.C. Eaton is the host sponsor of the event, which takes place at the Washington Convention Center, and will showcase a range of its innovational power management solutions from Oct. 1 through 3 at booth #701.

"Powering our modern world requires innovation like never before, and it is the energy industry's responsibility to tackle this challenge head-on," said John Stampfel, vice president and general manager, Electrical Engineering Services and Systems Division, Eaton. "Eaton looks forward to helping WEEC attendees address the power management challenges of tomorrow - setting new standards for reliability, safety, efficiency and energy surety along the way."

Experts participating from Eaton are:

  • At the conference's opening session on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8:45 a.m., Mark McGuire, executive vice president and general counsel, will speak about "Answering the Power Imperative." The presentation will underline the importance of continuing momentum behind global energy practices that balance a growing demand for power with efficient, safe and reliable innovation.
  • From 2:30-4:30 p.m., the Honorable William C. (Bill) Anderson, director, Strategy and Business Development, will moderate an energy policy panel featuring Congressman David McKinley of West Virginia and Congressman Paul Tonko of New York. During the session, both will speak on their vision for energy efficiency legislation and bi-partisan collaboration, before responding to questions from the audience.
  • From 3:30-4 p.m., Don McComas, chief engineer, Metering Technology, and Dwayne McGrody, product manager, will deliver a presentation focused on optimizing whole facility metering. The session will discuss how a comprehensive and strategic approach to electrical metering can enhance energy efficiency programs while simplifying facility management and proactive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • In a session from 4-4:30 p.m. titled "Innovative Ways to Increase Renewable Energy & Meet Energy Intensity Goals," John Vernacchia, alternative energy segment manager, will discuss best practices for deploying utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems - helping reduce installation and maintenance costs, and maximize solar harvest and electrical efficiency to reduce the overall cost of solar PV system ownership and operation.
