Dubai, UAE: In a gesture of solidity and support, du installed a new soft play area at the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) premises, as a gift from its employees. Funds for the soft play area were generously donated by du's employees, to benefit the victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking that the DFWAC supports every day. This coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed during October every year, internationally.

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: "The generosity of our colleagues has benefitted many members of our community, and we are especially proud of them for allowing this wondering contribution. As a company, our commitment is to more than just connecting people through telecommunications; we aim to establish meaningful bonds with the people we share our world with, by aiding them in many ways. Dubai Foundation for Women and Children plays a vital role in our society, and it is our pleasure to support it."

Shaikha Al Mansouri, Assistant Director-General for Corporate Support at DFWAC said: "We thank du and its employees for their kind donation of a new playground for child abuse victims in DFWAC. This will be an important addition to the services already offered to these children by the Foundation."

She added: "This initiative reflects the level of commitment that du and its employees have towards supporting community issues, especially the issues of violence against women and children.  We are sure that this is  only the first of many more initiatives and cooperation between both our organisations, to serve the UAE society. We see in this initiative a model of social partnership which we hope will be applied by all other entities".

Al Mansouri also explained that DFWAC provides care and rehabilitation services for all children within the UAE who are exposed to abuse, without distinction of race, colour or religion. Victims can reach the Foundation by calling the helpline 800 111 by themselves, or by their relatives or those around them, or through official agencies or embassies.

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) is the first licensed non-profit shelter in the UAE for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. It was established in July 2007 to offer victims immediate protection and support services in accordance with international human rights obligations.
