Envision Solar International, Inc., the leading renewably energized EV charging, outdoor media and energy security products company, announced that its EV ARC product was successfully utilized to provide power to Urban Shield in Alameda, California from September 8th through September 11th. The Company`s EV ARC product provides solar-powered EV charging and a reliable and secure source of the emergency power during utility grid outages, terrorist attacks, fires, earthquakes, hurricanes or other disasters. The Company`s product offering further a demonstration of its disaster preparedness credentials as it continued to operate during Hurricane Irma in Tampa, Florida.
Urban Shield is the largest full-scale First Responder preparedness exercise in the country. First Responders from various public agencies come together to execute critical response strategies to counter acts of terrorism. In a continuation of the Company`s partnership with State of California`s Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), Envision Solar`s EV ARC product powered medical field operations consisting of several large tents, medical equipment, lighting, communication infrastructure and even air conditioning.
"Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have reminded us again that locally generated and stored energy is an absolutely essential part of any disaster preparedness plan," said Envision Solar CEO Desmond Wheatley. "We are delighted that EV ARC has been recognized by EMSA as a dynamic, reliable and emissions free alternative to diesel powered generators during disasters."
EV ARC units are already providing emergency power capabilities to New York City, CALTRANS and several counties and cities in the US. The EV ARC product is the only EV charging solution which generates and stores its own electricity and which is rapidly deployable and transportable. Typical installations take less than 15 minutes which is another significant value proposition for first responders, emergency services and disaster response teams. Unlike traditional generators, EV ARC product does not require fuel and as such is a more secure source of electricity during prolonged grid outages.
Hurricane Irma has left 6 million Americans without power in Florida and hundreds of thousands were left without power in Texas after Hurricane Harvey. Envision Solar views the Company`s ability to provide reliable electricity during utility grid failures as a significant opportunity particularly as more fleets transition to Electric Vehicles. Officials are calling for a minimum of 20% of all EV charging infrastructure to be locally generated and stored to guard against the potential grounding of fleets during grid failures.
Invented and manufactured in California, the EV ARC fits inside a parking space and generates enough clean, solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day. The system`s solar electrical generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak which causes the array to follow the sun, generating up to 25% more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the EV ARC product`s energy storage for charging day or night and to provide emergency power during a grid failure. Because the EV ARC product requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it is deployed in minutes and can be moved to a new location with ease. EV ARC products are manufactured in the Company`s San Diego facility by combat veterans, the disabled, minorities and other highly talented, mission driven team members.
