First National Bank Alaska and its employees directed financial support of $1,002,675 to Alaska communities in 2017. The total includes charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and in-kind donations of time and expertise during the past year.

The bank provided support to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. The educational and youth organizations continued to be a major focus of the bank's support, with significant contributions to the University of Alaska Foundation, Alaska Pacific University, Boys and Girls Club, Alaska Theatre of Youth, Cook Inlet Tribal Council's Education Innovation Fund, Alaska School Activities Association, Camp Fire USA Alaska Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and the Girls Scouts Susitna Council.

First National maintained its support of United Ways all across the state, the Abused Women's Aid in Crisis (AWAIC), Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Public Radio Network, Carol H. Brice Family Center, Bean's Café, The Salvation Army, Food Bank of Alaska, Kodiak Women's Resource and Crisis Center, Seward Senior Citizens, and Perseverance Theatre, among many others.

In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to assist organizations and the people they serve. First National Bank Alaska also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as children's toys, sporting goods, school and office supplies, and clothing items.

'Our mission statement makes it clear that First National has a strong commitment to the communities we serve and all of Alaska,' said Chair and Chief Executive Officer Betsy Lawer. 'These contributions are just one way we show that we believe in Alaska, as we have for nearly a century.'

Alaskan-owned and -operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and branches in 18 communities throughout the state.
